GAME Plan Update

So I set up an account at www.ning.com so that I can restrict who is invited to view the blog. I have also uploaded clips from YouTube for my students to watch. The videos will help them if they have forgotten how to solve a particular problem. I am thinking of creating a podcast for my lessons, that way I can include my pointers that I want them to remember. My nagging thought is 'do I allow them to use their personal email accounts or should I allow them to set up a new account and link it to this account?'

  1. Good job setting up with Ning. I would let them use their email accounts but realize that students do not use them as often as adults. They are more likely to use a Facebook or Myspace. I have a student using Facebook and keeping all the restrictions on it and she is pleased with how it is working. Good Luck!

  2. I'm sorry I posted that incorrectly. I have a teacher using Facebook with her students and she keeps all the restrictions on it. It is working well for her and her students. At 6 p.m. on a Sunday evening she posts a reminder about homework. She sends to students who are absent. She does not do a lot of interaction. It is mostly set up to help answer questions and remind students.

  3. Wow! It sounds like your making excellent progress integrating technology. I love the idea of having podcasts to help your students that is a great way for them to get immediate help on an activity. I think I would have your students use emails that were set up for school use only. I think that emailing with their personal accounts would be to questionable.
